G-6

Difficulty of block: difficult (to hold)
Number of pieces: 31
Method used: hand piecing

I can't believe I did it! I hand pieced (no paper piecing) the tiny inner star of Papa's Star. I cut each piece out separately and hand stitched them together. The little star is made up of seventeen tiny, tiny pieces and measures just 1-inch. Jane Stickle did it by hand, so I knew it was possible. It's not perfect, but I didn't expect perfect on my first try. Sure hope they don't get any smaller then that!

Brenda's draft of Papa's Star is quite different then how Jane made the original. Both Jane's inner and outer stars are on an angle. I decided not to redraft the pattern, as it looked scary enough as it was. I've listed G-6 on my sidebar as an oops! pattern.

Looks PERFECT to me...well done! Fabulous block, love the fabrics that you used. I think I will try to hand piece this too! Hugs, Elaine in SLO, Ca

I'm impressed. This one was one of the first DJ blocks I attempted, and boy, was it tough. Yours looks very, very good.

Very skillful! You've proved that hand piecing works no matter the size of pieces with lots of patience! Well done!

I am in awe. I love hand quiting ad think I do a pretty good job of it but I can not hand piece to save my sole. I have Jane's book and patterns and so want to do them but I know they will be a disaster. I'm thinking about converting some of the patterns into paperpiece pattern.

Anyway, great job. You rock!
